We bought e-bikes!

12 May 2026

Lou rides a silver Merida Espresso CC 500 EQ 2025 and Jayne rides a Riese & Muller Culture Mixte Silent - Blossom.

Helmets and attractive clothing sold separately.

Last week, Jayne and Lou bought two brand new e-bikes from the Electric Bike Team (the world’s best e-bike shop!) at the end of the Light Path next to the new K-Road train station.

Get 32-63% off the cost of an e-bike!

We bought them through WorkRide a salary-sacrifice scheme for kiwis. It works like this: the employer purchases the bike on the employee's behalf (thanks Emission Impossible!), the employee pays it off through pre-tax salary deductions, and — thanks to the way the scheme is structured under New Zealand tax rules — the employee comes out with massive savings (32-63% off the ticket price). Yeah baby.

Oh and yes, there are significant environmental benefits. Replacing even a couple of car trips a week with an e-bike commute makes a measurable difference to any organisational footprint. This week’s homework is to work out exactly how much carbon we won’t be putting into the atmosphere each year thanks to our fossil free commute.

If you want to avoid soaring petrol costs then consider an e-bike through WorkRide. We're happy to chat about how we set it up at Emission Impossible anytime.

A huge thank you to the team at the Electric Bike Team on K' Road. Their patience with Lou declaring speed is not important and then immediately cranking every test-ride up to top speed was legendary. And to WorkRide for making the paperwork easy peasy.
